About Heath

It was a love of photography that inspired Heath Robbins to leave his job as an agency executive and travel the world with a camera in hand. More than twenty years later, it is his love for food, people, and making pictures, that continues to fuel his commercial photography career with focus and passion. For every client and for every shoot, Heath sets out to capture moments, tastes, and emotions that pull people out of their everyday, and straight into the moments that he creates.

Cook. Snap. Tag.

We are so thrilled to announce the launch of Heath's beautiful book "Boston's Best, A Delicious Celebration of Local Talent."

Thank you to all of the amazing people who helped us create it, including Dan Stewart, Annie Copps, Jessica Weatherhead, Bette Troy, Verne Cordova, CoCo Grace and the talented models from Maggie Inc, Click, Dynasty, NEMG and Model Club.  And, most importantly, thank you to all of the chefs who kindly offered their recipes and their time: Trina Sturm, Andy Husbands, Jamie Bissonnette, Robert Fathman, Jody Adams, Brian Rae, Ken Oringer, Jasper White, Ana Sortun, Tiffani Faison, Peter Davis, Jeff Fournier and Joanne Chang.

It was a labor of love for the entire team at HR Studio and we have been blown-away by the response to it. Art directors across the city have said things like "We get photography mailers all the time and this one is a keeper! We hope to work with you soon" and "The only thing I like better than good food is good photographs of food...Nice work." Our phone has already started ringing.

We're so happy to hear that everyone has enjoyed looking at the book. Now we want you to use it. Cook. Snap. Tag. And, win a $200 gift certificate to Henrietta's Table restaurant in Cambridge.

"That Was Easy"

Our "behind the scenes" blogs are always a favorite. Here's a peek at all the fun we had on a recent lifestyle shoot for our client Staples. We created three different home environments inside our 12,000 sq ft Boston-area studio using our new faux-residential window and custom-painted walls.  We photographed both real Staples employees and talent from Dynasty and Model Club, Inc. Such a fun shoot and we're looking forward to having Staples back in the studio again next week.

Check out the behind the scenes shots below as well as a few of the final images and go to our website for more of Heath Robbins' food and lifestyle photography. ~Jenna

Day (Night) in the life of a restaurant

I had the pleasure of shooting in Chef Jeff Fournier's two restaurants this month: 51 Lincoln and Waban Kitchen. Incredible restaurants, amazing food and fantastic crews. My goal was to catch a little slice of what life is like in the back of the restaurant.

I've shot in hundreds of kitchens and know what it can be like; my goal was to show the chefs intensity, dedication to their craft and deep partnerships.

It's like a dance, shooting in the working kitchen of a busy restaurant, but these guys were really great as I moved in and out of their carefully coreographed movement.

Here is a small selection of the hundreds of pictures we shot. You can see more of my personal lifestyle work, shot in restuarants, on my website.

PDN Photo Annual Winner

We're thrilled to announce that our new website was selected as a winner in the 2013 PDN Photo Annual! This contest is one of the most respected in our industry and we're honored to be a winner. Click here to check out our website featuring Heath Robbins' food and lifestyle photography.  And, here is PDN's online announcement!

The relaunch of our site clearly presents food and lifestyle photography as Heath's two specialties. The architecture is easy to navigate and allows us to display big pictures that load quickly for the user. Since the launch, visits have increased and more in-person portfolio reviews have been booked, which have resulted in several new accounts!

A huge thanks to Dan Stewart at Deep Group for designing the site and to Drew and Jason who prepared dozens of picture files for the launch of this site. Bravo team!
